To convey

Fri Jul 17, 2009, 1:43 PM
You know those people who can churn out a new book every few months? Well I'm not one of them. I find it hard to take a vision in my head and put in on paper (or more recently, a computer screen). It's especially hard to take an emotion and share it through words. I don't want to start a fight or anything, but artists have it easy in my opinion. The angle and position of the eyebrows, the angle of the mouth, and there you have it. With words, it's harder. I suppose that's the reason poetry was invented.

I'd like an opinion, from both writers and artists: What emotion is the hardest for you to convey?

For me, it's fear. I don't know how to express fear, other than to say I'm scared. Not to mention I can't stand the thought of harming another, so it's hard to imagine what a monster or killer would do to inspire it.

*On a totally unrelated note, I really, REALLY hate my avatar. Can anyone A. Make me a decent one. OR B. Give me some tips on how to make a decent avatar using only a cheap MS paint knock-off?

Heh... What I would like to know is how you got into the fandom? Last time I saw you you were keeping your distance.

Well, it all started back in the fall of 2006. I was in the bookstore at the mall and found a very curious book called "Freaks!: How to Draw Fantastic Fantasy Creatures". I looked inside and saw some very fanciful anthropomorphic animals in exotic wardrobes that were revealing, yet colorful. I put the book down, not yet interested in what I saw, but over the next few weeks, I started to have daydreams about these animals. I soon became very mesmerized by the thought of them.

I soon bought the book and I drew my first anthro in the middle of October that same year. I was very amazed by these animals and I wanted to find more of them. I looked all around the internet, searching "anthropomorphic" on Google. In November, I was looking at the Wikipedia article for anthropomorphism and found the link to the furry fandom article at the bottom. I clicked and was plunged into the furry world. I did learn about the "Y-I-double-F" there, too, but I wasn't too contemptuous of it.

I was officially a furry in the spring of 2007, when I entered a furry chat room and was asked what species my fursona was. Over a year later, I attended my first furry convention: Anthrocon 2008, which my mom took me to for graduating high school.

Recently, I had attended my second con: Further Confusion 2009.
